Privacy Policy

First Fable (“we”, “us”) creates personalised children’s storybooks. We take your family’s privacy seriously — especially when it involves children. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we keep it safe.

What child data we collect

To create a personalised storybook we ask for a small amount of information about your child:

• First name
• Age group (e.g. 3–5 years)
• Gender
• Hair colour
• A photo (see “How photos are handled” below)

We also collect a parent or guardian’s email address at checkout so we can deliver the finished book and send order updates.

How we use this data

Your child’s information is used solely to create their personalised storybook. We do not use it for advertising, analytics profiles, or any other purpose. We never sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing.

How photos are handled

Your child’s photo is treated as ephemeral. Here’s exactly what happens:

1. You upload the photo through our storybuilder.
2. The photo is sent directly to our image generation provider (fal.ai) to generate illustrations.
3. Once the illustrations are created, the photo is deleted. We never store your child’s photo on our servers.

Parental consent (COPPA)

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We require verifiable parental consent before collecting any information about a child under 13. A parent or guardian must acknowledge our privacy policy and consent to data collection during the storybuilder flow before any child data is submitted.

Your rights as a parent

As a parent or guardian, you can:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about your child.
• Request that we delete all data associated with your order.
• Withdraw consent for future data collection at any time.

Data retention

We keep order data (child’s name, age group, gender, hair colour, parent email, and the generated story) for 12 months after the order is completed. After 12 months, all personal data is automatically deleted from our systems. You can request early deletion at any time by emailing us.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted services to create and deliver your book. Each handles data according to their own privacy policies:

• Stripe — payment processing. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe Privacy Policy

Cookies and analytics

We use PostHog for anonymous product analytics (e.g. which pages are visited, which art style is most popular). We do not use analytics to track or profile individual children. No advertising trackers are used on this site.
